muscatine.comThe portal site for the Greater Muscatine Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and the local Convention and Visitors Bureau.   An excellent place to start; contains a wide variety of information about the Muscatine community.  The internet portal for Wilton, Iowa including the Chamber of Commerce and city government, this site has some great information and a lot of additional links to area resources. Our local newspaper; publishes six days a week, Monday through Saturday. Good source of current news and information. Interesting historical sidelight: Mark Twain was once on the editorial staff and his brother was the owner/publisher.

voiceofmuscatine.comSite of our two hometown radio stations, KWPC (AM-860) and KWCC (FM 93.1). Both enjoy an excellent local reputation.  Live coverage of Muscatine High School sporting events is often carried on the FM station. 

Our area has an unusually large and varied industrial base for its population.  Websites of key local industries are listed below in alphabetical order.  Website of Bandag, Inc., a Fortune 1000 company that was founded and headquartered in Muscatine.  A leading manufacturer of tire retreading materials and equipment for a global network of numerous franchised dealerships in over 100 countries, it was acquired by Bridgestone Americas group in 2007, and still maintains a significant presence in Muscatine. Another home-grown success story, Carver Pump was founded in 1938. The company is recognized as one of the world's leading manufacturers of centrifugal pumps, serving commercial and military markets.
The CDS Global plant in Wilton is a full-service direct mail production facility with services that include on-demand full color printing.  It’s a major employer and important part of the community. Gerdau Longsteel North America, a division of the international Gerdau steel production group, is a leader in mini-steel production and steel recycling.  It’s Wilton facility is a major area employer and important part of the community. A subsidiary of Muscatine-based Kent Corporation (see below), Grain Processing Corporation is a leading manufacturer and worldwide marketer of corn-based products including starches, polymers, solids, and ethyl alcohol. A longtime fixture in our community and on kitchen tables across America, the H.J. Heinz Company opened its first location outside of Pittsburg in Muscatine in 1893. The local facility includes production and distribution, and employs approximately over 500 area residents.  Muscatine-based HNI Corporation, a Fortune 1000 company, is the second largest office furniture manufacturer in the world, and the nation’s leading manufacturer of gas- and wood-burning fireplaces.  It has been cited on multiple occasions as a top-performing and top-admired company in Forbes, Fortune and other publications, and is our area’s largest employer. Muscatine-based Kent Corporation is a major area employer and another local success story.  It’s  engaged in corn wet milling, the production of animal feeds, and the manufacture of food products through a number of subsidiaries.  These include Grain Processing Inc. (see above) and Kent Nutrition Group, both based in Muscatine. The presence of St.Louis-based Monsanto Company in our community dates to 1961. Over the years, the Muscatine plant has undergone several major expansions. A major area employer, the local facility is engaged primarily in the manufacture of herbicides and related products. Musco Lighting is the industry leader in temporary and permanent lighting solutions for outdoor sporting and entertainment events. The company's corporate offices are in Oskaloosa, Iowa while its manufacturing and production facility is located in Muscatine. The Raymond Corpration, a division of Toyota Industries, produces electric lift trucks and loaders.  Its manufacturing facility, located in Muscatine for over 20 years, employs approximately 250 individuals. The SSAB Swedish Steel AB plant in rural Muscatine County opened in 1997. Built at a cost of approximately $400 million, the facility is engaged in the production of discrete and coil plate steel, and employs approximately 250 individuals plus outside contractors. A homegrown success story, Stanley Consultants has served the engineering needs of public and private sector clients in over 80 countries. With corporate headquarters in Muscatine, it employs a significant number of engineers and support professionals locally, and maintains offices around the world.

You'll find an excellent educational infrastructure in Muscatine including outstanding public and parochial schools and a highly-regarded community college. Further opportunities are a short commute away including several post-secondary institutions in the Quad Cities area (30 miles) and The University of Iowa in located in Iowa City (40 miles). louisa-muscatine.k12.ia.usThe Louisa-Muscatine public school district, covering the area south of Muscatine and encompassing much of rural Muscatine and Louisa Counties.  Muscatine Community College, one of three colleges in the Eastern Iowa Community College District. Collectively, they offer more than 80 Associate of Arts (AA) and Associate of Applied Science (AAS) programs.  The primary website of The University of Iowa, located in nearby Iowa City. Augustana College; private liberal arts/sciences; Rock Island, Illinois. St. Ambrose University; private Catholic liberal arts/sciences; Davenport, Iowa.  Western Illinois University’s Quad Cities campus in Moline, Illinois.
